Nesting System Improvements & Server Customization Proposal
The current nesting system in place is an amazing foundation, but it could benefit from a partial overhaul to improve immersion, customization, and flexibility for different server types, especially realism servers. Currently, nest decorations feel limited and somewhat outdated, with most decor matching Gondwa and Panjura, while Riparia lacks appropriate options. Introducing map-specific decor would allow for more variety and help nests better reflect their environments. In addition, many realism servers do not utilize questing systems, making it impossible to access some decorations (e.g., milk cap mushrooms, bloodstones), so adding a server-side toggle to either unlock all nesting decor by default or retain quest-based progression would support multiple playstyles without restricting immersion. Nesting could also be expanded through an optional cooperative system by adding a “mate” slot, allowing one partner to help gather food and water and decorate the nest, with no effect on gameplay if unused. This could also display both nest owners as parents in the family tree. If both players mutually add each other as mates, their nests could become linked, allowing offspring to eat and drink from either nest. Finally, adding a server option to disable the nesting tutorial would be extremely beneficial, as the current egg invite tutorial is lengthy, immersion-breaking, and resource-draining, leading many realism servers to avoid nesting altogether. Additionally, the adoption system could be improved by labeling adopted young as “adopted” and egg-invited young as “biological” in the family tree.

Please god, ive made this suggestion like 3 times, i want more decor and complexity, foliage that match the poi im in or rock, wood, etc.
I only wan my nests to blend into the environment to prevent nests being destroyed and found easily, while also being immersive and expanding how creative you can be. -

cloudthis!! and, i feel giving an option to select a nest-type would be equally as beneficial, as different creatures have different nest types (herbi, carni, semi & aquatic for example, mostly have different nests). so a semi-aquatic creature could choose to have a land, or aquatic nest. or a dinosaur could choose to have a differently looking nest type to feel more unique.
