New Meta: Death by Annoyance
Right now, the game’s combat balance heavily favours smaller, more maneuverable creatures. These dinos can reliably take down massive apexes solo by circling them, hitting blind spots, and avoiding damage with ease. It requires little skill—just strafe, nibble, retreat, repeat. Pounce makes it worse: once it lands, the attacker gets free damage while the victim struggles with a weak shake-off. A single raptor defeating an adult T. rex shouldn’t be normal gameplay.
The smaller creature is always in control—if they start losing, they can just run off, heal, and re-engage on their terms. The larger creature can’t do that; they’re locked into the fight. This dynamic makes fights drawn-out and frustratingly annoying for the larger predator.
Pounce shouldn’t be removed—raptors need it—but it needs a rework. Add a wind-up, stamina cost, or better counterplay. Right now, it’s a low-risk, high-reward move that trivializes apex predators.

All raptor users say the same thing. lol
The problem is not the difference in the number of times you miss a hit.
It's the density of options and experiences. Slow and large dinosaurs are designed to be at a great disadvantage in this game.
Raptors would not understand this.
For example, if a Tyrannosaurus and a Deinonychus are fighting, which one has the option to run away and stop the fight?
Which one has the option to switch to another dinosaur?
Which one has the option to run to a rock and recover stamina and debuffs?
Which one has the option to respawn and come back even if they are killed?
Raptors willingly start a battle where mistakes are not allowed, right?
The basic premise is that a heavy, slow dinosaur and a fast dinosaur do not offer the same optio
In this game, the larger and slower you are, the higher the risk of being targeted and defeated by the enemy.
It's ridiculous. I think the range of dinosaurs that a certain dinosaur can harm should be limited. -

ShrugzzzAn apex carni can make fifty+ mistakes in a fight against a raptor and still win, a raptor can only make one—maybe two and it’s game over. I do get what you mean though. My big issue is this- I can’t tell you how many times I’ve bitten a raptor square in the face/body while they were leaping-pouncing and it didn’t register. Just the other day I was hassled by a single chicken for a half hour. It would attack, flee, heal, repeat. By the time it came back I was fully healed again. I couldn’t catch it but it wouldn’t leave me alone . This would be on me for my inability to catch it as it dropped down after pouncing. I e dropped a lot of raptor packs on Rex, but not on titan. Apexes do need something to help but if it’s too much it makes it unfair for raptors. Everyone should be able to pick any dino and have a chance of winning against any dino based off skill.

danli'd have to disagree with yeah Shrugzzz the part where any dino can have a chance in particular there is a tier-list where larger creatures will dominate smaller however where smaller are weaker interms of attacks and durablity they make up for with speed particularly and sure u can bring up about "lucky feather" however that is only endureing for 1 attack not two with a decent cooldown however i get with what ur meaning about hitbox related issues some have it worst then others particularly Dasp Vs Megalania despite Dasp's head reaching down.

KBlurAs someone who plays a raptor very often, my gameplay consists of:
- Extremely high risk of dying
- Non-existent reward
- Fighting larger dinosaurs for a LONG time, even in a pack, where we risk dying like flies once apexes hug the walls or water.
While I do feel Apexes need a better defense -- it's shameful that one raptor can sometimes fell a rex, then raptors would need some kind of help as well. Pounce, atm, is almost pointless. Certain dinos could benefit from having pounce counters like Alio that actually HUNTS raptors, but with AoE introduced now... hooo boy...
Laten is slow as is, megs can tail ride latens and somehow have just as good turn speed... for a 1-slot, laten is in a very bad position still.
As mentioned here, Apex players can make 1000000000 mistakes, but a raptor makes ONE mistake and it's game over.
