Local Chat Option for Cross-Species Communication - Text Roleplay QoL
The game has incredible potential for immersive storytelling, especially within roleplay-focused communities. I’m hoping to plan a text-based RP server where dinosaurs are portrayed as sentient with anthropomorphism traits, similar to 'Dinosaur (2000)' from Disney.
I’d like to kindly ask for the addition of an optional server-side toggle that allows local chat communication between herbivores and carnivores. This would be an invaluable feature for text roleplay servers where interspecies diplomacy, negotiation, and storytelling are core to the experience.
I understand the current restriction helps maintain gameplay balance and immersion on official servers. However, the ability to toggle this limitation would give private servers greater flexibility to customize their experience.
If modding support expands in the future to support this (and an option to have the dinosaur's name under their alderon games' username) this would be golden for us. Thank you for the consideration!

AstalphI always thought it would be cool to have a Local chat that was restricted to individual specie "types". For example, Laten,Achillo,Deinon, could all chat because they are all raptors. Rex and Dasp could chat because they are both "Tyrannosaurs". Eo, Alberta, Styr, could chat because they're all "Ceratopsians". And then you've got the "Stegosaurs", et cetera.
Having more options to customize the chat channels would be good. -

PoisonedPaintThank you! I've been working on a google site as drafts for the concept for quite a few months now; nothing is set up quite yet (and a physical server is a long way off until we actually know what is doable with modding, but I've also noted that death and returning as a juvenile may be another wrench in the plans if that isn't a toggleable thing.
I know most of these things make sense in a regular 'realism' server, but I feel like my server concept is a bit of a mix between semi fantasy to realism, but also roleplayable continuity? -

PoisonedPaintFor example, character 'death' wouldn't necessarily be 'actual character death'--each normal RP-PVP 'death' for our server would be RPed as a near fatal wound for the character downed (even though the carnivore used the body for sustenance) so that battle wounds can be RPed-- however we'd want something akin to a 'strike' system, if the character is hassled enough, the character can request our staff to issue 'mortal strikes' on the opposing character, sorta like a 'nemesis' system. If approved, each 'death' made by the killer out of 3 of the marked character would end up being perma-killed by the 3rd death. We were hoping that maybe this could be a cool way to entice RP conflict/dino-political wars and such. May sound weird, but--there are other RP games like Conan that use similar systems to extend storytelling :) Hopefully it makes a bit of sense. I know its hard to explain, but in practice it works better.

IriSorrowcallerI would also like this as well where herbivores and carnivores can speak to each other freely, even being able to group together. Also I would like to have the ability to determine the "distance" of the local chat range radius.
Obviously officials can be what the intended experience is, but giving server owners the customization options for stuff like this to create communities how they want and cater the experience of their server would be amazing.
