Limited Refer-A-Friend Reward Opportunities
I believe a rework of the Refer-A-Friend system should be HIGHLY considered by Alderon Games.
With the skins slowly rotating out of availability we run into these problems:
1. Newer players will never have a chance to earn older rewards.
2. Older players who have already referred their friends won't be able to earn the newest rewards.
* Please consider the fact not everyone has a huge amount of friends, and - even in their own friend groups - not everyone is interested in playing these types of games. This leaves only popular players/influencers able to spread their referrals and obtain the newest of skins with ease.
Here are a couple options to fix these standing issues. (There are sure to be more in the comments):
- Allow players to buy referral skins and keep referring friends as an option to earn skins for FREE.
- Allow players to earn old AND new skins if they have referred people for that specific tier.

WisteriaYES YES YES! I have played since the release onto consoles and I only have one referral (Wildfire allo) and it was a link I accepted from somebody else, I have friends I do but none of them even know what that game is and aren't gonna spend $70 on a game they won't play. They just don't like dinosaurs and that's fine. I don't have the rest of the old ones or any of the new ones, I don't have hundreds of friends to harrass to get the game so I can get a skin its not fair. you should be able to have the option to buy skins individually for a fair price (maybe same as current skin packs 350 or 150 coins) but the refer a friend system should just be a way to earn the skins for free if you do have friends you want to bring to the game. Only big time youtubers like velocci or other people can get their code out easily because they have a large fanbase or if you buy 6 copies of the game each time for yourself and its a waste of hundreds of dollars.

saritakA system that allows for friends to refer you when they purchase skin packs or anything from the store should be in place. That way, you're not limited to only people who recently joined the game.

DukeYou should not be able to get old skins they are exclusive for a reason. If you don’t play when they are available then you don’t get the rewards like the rest of us. Just because someone is late too the party doesn’t mean those who have supported the game since the beginning should lose there exclusives.

CarloI fully agree. I have 8 friends referred from last year, yet I don't have any of the 6 new skins. It seems totally unfair to me, as at no point has it been specified on their website that there were going to be new skins, that referrals would not count towards the new skins, or that there was a deadline for referrals not to count towards the new rewards.

GelaWe could also have some kind of "referal token" when we refer someone. It would allow us to "buy" one referal skin of our choice. lets remove the "tiers" and just let us chose the skin we like the look of the most at least! including current and past ones.

TyrandaMy short opinion on this matter:
1. No, you cannot return old rewards, in this case we either return everything that was there (starter kit, etc.) or nothing (just my opinion).
2. The simplest solution would be the opportunity to “refer a friend” not within 24 hours, but at least within a month.
3. Alderon Games could notify new players about the existence of the "refer a friend" system and explain how it works, because people, especially new ones, are intimidated by the very concept of a link being offered to them by a stranger. -

VölvaI have wanted some of these skins so badly but everyone I play with has already been referred and finding players who aren’t already referred are so hard.

CytotoxicHonestly if they implemented a system to buy the ‘Refer a Friend’ skins, I would definitely pay for a few of those skins. Not to mention the game would accrue funds from both copies being purchased and players paying to buy the skins if they want to.

GalaxyI do not agree with this as “RaF” has always operated and worked like this with many games who have done the same thing, it’s a way to reward players for bringing friends to the game every year. Also if they brought back old skins that would be going against the whole point of them and anger a lot of people who worked hard to get friends and recruit them to the game

literatemaxThe fact that it's literally impossible for every account to earn every referral skin is problematic at best and a pyramid scheme at worst. I think Australia has some pretty strong anti-pyramid scheme laws

ZaroxAs someone who has 3/6 of the 1st RaF skin set, I would NOT be angry about them changing the RaF system to be more accessible! I like the idea of allowing players to choose which skin they want by using a token, instead of having to “build up” to the skin they actually want.
I also agree with the idea that the RaF skins should cycle, and not just be randomly unavailable. -

I don't see the value of RAFs as "look how many people I got to click a link in discord", it's more about the fact that the skins just look cool. Some are the best skins in the game too. And even with the "look how long I’ve been here" thing, you could just tell people about it? Heck, there's skins older than the RAF ones that I think shouldn't be obtainable, the RAFs are an exception. -

RaymhInstead of a referral system here are 2 possibilities I was thinking about just recently:
1. Earn skins by time spent playing, the more you play the more you unlock for free.
2. Earning Achievements to unlock these skins without referrals is another (and more preferable) option! Would give us lots of extra things to do outside of playing normally and we could receive rewards for it too! Some crazier or harder to complete achievements could unlock more complicated skins or some kind of skin-currency like a token that we could use to pick which skin we want? So many options! -

VeintraliaI own all referrals and I personally wouldn't like it if people could buy them because I put in effort into getting these skins it would be unfair. But like you said rotate the referral skins I don't mind that so people can have a chance to get them is nice.

CorvusThe whole refer a friend system feels really sad to older players to be honest. My friends and I have played since the isolated demos were being released and purchased the game as a 4 pack. We got no referrals for helping each other get the game, nor for how hard we pushed this game to our own friends and connected communities in the vital early months of the game.

CarolineI also believe the system just needs a rework to be more user friendly. I've gotten 5+ people to play the game but the referral system is so confusing that I never got the rewards. It would be nice if they had a website where you could submit:
- your Alderon user
- Alderon code
- name of who you referred
- their Alderon code
- when they downloaded the game
But I do like how some skins become "rare" and cycle out. -

ChanceWe need some kind of rework on this system. It's really annoying not being able to get some of the best skins in the game because they made it so only people have had the game for less than 24 hours can be referred, and only once (I don't think they need to be able to be referred multiple times but still). It makes it next to impossible to get these skins that are really amazing. I feel like it is so unnecessary to have made that change, I've also heard they made the 3x growth only be limited time? Which to me makes no sense since its already so hard to obtain someone to refer just for it to take away a massive benefit. Ik this is kind of petty and it probably makes more people buy their game, but it really sucks for slightly older players (Ive only played for maybe a year and half).

YueFor me, have the possibility between old/new referrak skin is a good idea. But let the referral skin be accessible easily (buy them, eventually spend time/achievement) is NOT fair for other player who hardly tried to get one. Also referral as "no interest" if u can just buy it or whatever (it loses "value', and people will just stop to invite friends in the game).
However, change the system to make it more accessible for new could be great. For example switch players don't have access to the referral code, you have to get the game on phone. However, switch players are those who buy the game (therefore have access to the referral code) and not those on phone.
And as someone else said, 24h is too short, 1 month would be better. And be able to refer in game could be great too (because some people can't/don't want get a link of a stranger).
So keep the idea of get the referral skin ONLY by new player is better (I guess) , just add the possibility of get old one + promote the system. -

JPId say keep it refer a friend only but everytime a new set comes out give the person who have already refered x amount of friends the new skin too. I maxed refered previous skins in total 8 but the extra 2 isnt moved forward which is stupid.

DaeIf RaF skins are made purchasable then something needs to balance it out so that RaF folks still get an exclusive reward. I got all of the RaF skins and the amount of work I put in to do so... was a lot and took months lol. It would feel really unfair knowing I did all that work and spent all that time for the special skins just for people to be able to get the same reward with no effort. I do think rotating the RaF skins for people who are earning them is a good idea though

ShallieThe referral time is way too short. New players joining the game wouldn't even think about the referral system... Which means they miss out on a skin and so do other people.
The problem with this system in general... Is that this is a super niche game and its hard for many people to legitimately bring 5-6 people in the game. Let alone every new refer a friend rotation. I understand the feelings of the people who have gotten referrals before, but still I don't agree with the system as it stands. I've been trying to get referrals for awhile now... And i'm getting increasingly angry with the system. I had like 3 people agree to use their referral on me, yet it seems the process was too complicated for them- because they didn't follow through with it. And because they didn't use it, their referral is wasted due to 24 hours passing. Which is extremely aggravating, the 24 hour referral period is too short; and I don't get why they expire at all anyway. -

FullmetalI always thought they should be a special skin pack. Maybe they cost more or require you doing something in-game. I would do anything for wildfire allosaurus.

LosingMyMind6PLEASE!!! Im so tired of being locked behind a "I have no friends to refer to" paywall. Ive only gotten the allo skin and that was EARLY when the referral skins were introduced. After that, nada. Not a single one after that, it's just so...time consuming HOPING someone will click your link and constantly sending it out on same to different platforms. I honestly gave up trying to send my link anywhere because it was .001% chance of ever getting another skin. At this point, the referral skins feel LEGENDARY to get.
People just make alt accounts and buy the game over and over again just to get all 6 skins...now I dont know if thats intended, so people spend more money and AG gets more out of it, but thats how desperate people are to get these skins. Because the OG referral link just doesn't work a lot of the time, people just end up spending money on it anyway. You might as well just add the skins to a skin pack and let people buy it because thats what they're doing already... -

MarkWe need this to remove some of the FOMO this game provides. I can live without the backer skins that helped fund the game in its early stages, but referral skins need to change. I'll gladly pay extra for these premium skins since I have no one to refer to this game. Please bring back old referral skins as premium shop skins.

AuroirahI second this greatly. I only ever got the wildfire allo on my old account. When the referral skins reset I lost all motivation because my goal was the bluejay skin and now? I cannot get it. And it depresses me daily. This is a great idea.

CorvusA loong time ago in the Discord Matt said he would look into referral skins for people who purchased the original backer packs for multiple copies of the game but nothing ever came of it :( I'd really like to see those old copies get at least one referral if not 3. A lot of those copies ended up being gifted, or the pack itself was the whole reason all those people got into the game.
Not to mention, the games oldest players from that time did a lot of the vouching for the game during that time, so it would be nice to see a little something for it since we did so much referring before the system existed. -

FlavGod please, I want the Blue Jay Deinon skin so bad. It's my favorite bird in real life and I love playing Deinon, but I know literally nobody who likes Dinosaur games and I didn't want to buy the game 3 or 4 times just for one skin. Now I couldn't even do that. Kinda sad, I backed the game right in the beginning and I'm getting gatekept from such cool skins. Please make them available to be purchased after some time.

Will we have a chance to get those rewards again or are they forever gone?
Making the decision should be a 30-60min meeting. Adding them to the shop would probably take 1-2 days, depending on your infrastructure. Denying the request would take a minute.
Even if the answer is no, it would be nice to know after such a long time. How is this highly anticipated and very simple topic "under consideration" for literally two years?
People deserve to know if they’ll ever be able to play as a blue jay deinon. -

RhiannonThe comments against making the old RAF skins available even just as keeping them on the rewards list as RAF rewards is weird to me. For the record the old ones were never advertised as being limited time. They were swapped with no warning, leaving those who were still working to get them when the swap happened sour. I hate once and then gone videogame items as a concept because I think that "I get this and you NEEEVVER WILL" mindset is toxic for multiple reasons and seasonal is superior as a compromise but bias aside this wasn't even a proper example since at bare minimum shouldn't items that are once and gone be advertised as such?
Cycling RAF things could be annoying since most random people don't actually have control of when they make a new friend. They should just update the system so you can chose your skin or even save up referral points and they need to give a much longer time period for a referral to be valid since it relys on new players you have to explain everything to.
