Passive growth with quests speeding up growth
Playing as a younger dinosaur would be more engaging if growth was passive, and doing quests just sped up the process. As it stands, the quests get pretty repetitive. It takes too long to grow just gathering resources. If growth was passive, people would play online more consistently. Plus, people will still be motivated to do quests to speed up their growth and earn marks.

LordylooI agree that it should be a combination of both passive growth and quests speeding up the time by like 33%. Doing the quests for growth is fun but gets tedious because of how little you get from each quest

FinchAgreed. Maybe the passive growth will apply from Juvenile > Adolescent. Then at decreasing strength from Adolescent > Subadult. After Subadult the passive growth drops off and you now have to rely on quests to grow to Adult, adding a layer of difficulty.

VEPPEating and drinking should be part of a passive growth buff; babies gotta eat to grow!

KupkakeA suggestion/middle ground for passive growth is to add a "Survive 1 in-game day" quest, repeatable of course. The quest fails when you die or logout, and resets when you spawn, complete the quest or login to a new server.
The quest can reward, say, a decent 1~2 min or more of growth, to reward players for actively trying to not die, while also throwing a bone to people complaining about passive growth on officials.
Naturally, this can be stacked with passive growth should you wish to use both quests and passive growth on your server. -

Vakuur BairnAn excellent suggestion! At this stage of development the reward to investment for growth is completely unbalanced. You spend so much time doing menial task that get detracted if you die that it kills all interest in the game. Why would I play something that literally gives me no sense of progression or reward for my time?

Doyaduku_beI agree maybe a 2-3% growth rate while doing quests and NOT resting or idle in home cave. Quests are repetitive and dull and trying to grow is hard enough on top of being constantly killed by way bigger Dinos. Babies shouldn’t be harassed as much as they are.

MrGreenI have to say, I'm all for a passive growth. I played on a community server with a passive growth feature and it was a small amount but it was enough to have you feel like you were getting somewhere a little quicker. I don't mind grinding things, but it does feel a little slow. If you think about it, in life we grow as the clock ticks no matter if we get something accomplished or not until we hit adulthood, so it makes sense. I know this is a game, and don't want to make things to easy. But it would be a little nicer to have a passive growth feature for base game. Along with the ability to make a waypoint .. just saying. ;-)

RhoklawConsidering they used to have a drink and eat quest when thirsty or hungry, which would equate to passive growth and then they removed it, I highly doubt they will ever add anything that provides passive growth. Which means official servers will remain useless to new players since you get KOS'd by literally anything bigger than you. Complete 2-3 quests, lose 4-5 quests worth of XP when you get KOS'd. There's a reason community servers are more popular, so I'd stick with those.

Dillon FussleWhile quests are a great way of growing I highly suggest that there would also be a constant passive growth. It could be little growth; however, too much passive growth would be too unrealistic. This game has so much potential, but it is very challenging to spend all that time completing quests for growth. Not many people would be willing to do that. So in conclusion i suggest that passive growth would be added to the game in order to keep people actively entertained and willing to come back and play more!

WaldbeereI'm playing for 2 hours now. And this suggestion here was my first thought after this. The idea with quests is good. But only with quests is terrible. I'm a person who does not like doing quests in 99% of the games.
There will be a point in the future where I stop playing because I think "Oh, not again this quests". It's a good thing for a game to support as many playstyles as possible. -

GrowthSimulatorI vote NO to afk growth, actually now we can just grow at adult and level up another character after that, becouse dont have got any end game finality.
Imagine in a mmorpg game asking that, please i wanna be max level just waiting in...Stormwind xD -

Wolfblade316Only people that care about passive growth are gankers, when you are juvi/ado you can't fight, so being able to hide and grow helps instead of being forced to spots where gankers hide just to kill you for fun and to pss you off haha. Another dino game has passive growth and its less frustrating to get killed as adult rex and lose 8 hours of growing then it is in this game from juvi to sub haha. It also would improve groups , i played all night basically limiting groups too two people for xp gain and basically spent all night getting ganked by adults. Passive growth lets you avoid them vs being forced to grind for 2 hours only to get ganked and start over......as a juvi. This game needs to realise the fun is at sub/adult not juvi/ado and that if people grow faster they will still make alt dinos but the "fun factor" will keep them coming back not the "ganking juvis" to be annoying.

WolfgangWolvesYes we desperately need this in the game 👏

RioI agree, the death penalty as a new player sucks because if you choose the wrong Dino (in my case a Rex) everyone tries to kill you almost immediately and usually succeed. So a little help on growth would help alot, even going so far to say that passive growth can't be given a penalty until Ado would be nice. There's nothing more frustrating than when you are minding your own business doing quests which clearly put you in areas with other animals and getting your face chomped off while you are collecting pinecones lol.

KiwiSpyGirlPassive growth for juvenile and Adolescent would be great - takes forever to get leveled up especially if you are just KoS and need to start again.

AdosikSKI agree with a passive growth too, at least in this stage of game where quests are boring and you are forced to do them and cant enjoy the incredible gameplay the game offers.

plutomiumQuests should not increase growth at all and only earn tokens for abilities and skins!

SamYes. I don't think that dinos should rely on passive growth but yes. Maybe make it so each of the 5 growth bars takes 2 hrs to fill

Hamst1rThis would only benefit the mixpackers who sit around killing for trophies 10v1
