Adding to player’s nighttime immersion via audio

Currently, nighttime feels no more eerie or dangerous than daytime. I really feel like it would help add to a sense of immersion, especially for solo players and players that don’t use the in-game music, if ambient sound effects got automatically adjusted depending on what stage the server is within the day/night cycle

One simple way I could see this getting done is by simply reducing the frequency/prevalence of specific audio effects during nighttime, to make the world “feel” more quiet. It’s historically proven that people feel more on edge when an environment transitions from a state of noise and “presence” to a state of silence and “solitude”. It instills a feeling of being quietly watched by something just out of reach.

Several other games and even movies employ this tactic already, and time and time again it’s created a much more potent sense of immersion than if it hadn’t been done. In doing this, the game could passively lean into a more “dire survivalist” aspect.
