Counter Herbi/Carni Mixpacking
Herbivores and carnivores often group up with each other using comms due to their inability to use the group system. While this is clearly not intended, it’s an incredibly prevalent behavior in the game. Mega groups of herbi and carni players ruthlessly harassing people contributes to an unengaging experience and really takes you out of the immersion. It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense when your herbi gets merked by a gang of other herbis so that they can feed their carni friend, does it?
A potential way to passively counter this is by implementing some sort of stress system which would progressively punish either herbis or carnis (or both) the longer they remain within proximity of any player of the opposite diet. The punishment could debuff the player, so that it wouldn’t necessarily impact their HP, but it would heavily discourage them from hanging around players of the opposite diet for extended periods of time.

It doesn’t matter if a friend is on team carnivore and another friend plays herbivore there should be a punishment for mix packing to balance the game. If a friend wants to play with another friend then they can change their dinosaur to either carnivore or herbivore with them. Mix packing is over powering the game and it’s becoming toxic so this needs to come to a stop. I’ve tried questing and it’s almost impossible growing my dinosaur when a trike is guarding the quest while their carnivore friends grow it’s unrealistic and unfair play. -

JochewiSome of this would be appreciated, but I would prefer reward to punishment, or a combination of both.. In any case it would be good if each species had certain coexistence needs, to make the experience more realistic. So you could see groups of dinosaurs as you would have found them 66 million years ago, instead of all the mixed groups we have today.

Otoha0309I second this. For a game that really delves deep into the realm of realism and immersion, this problem is the #1 problem for those looking for something like that experience on official servers. It feels unnatural and toxic, and more steps should be taken to prevent and discourage it. Unless the developers are ACTUALLY trying to build a dinosaur game that is only about bringing the most powerful dino group you can to the center of the map, and proceeding to be an epic douchebag about it. Because that's the game we have at the moment

SamanthaNO. I've never ever done this but I have carni friends and I want to group with them to quest punishing friends because if a few bad people doesn't make sense

skybluepainerPerhaps have it like how at the crater players can't inflict damage on each other because it's a truce area? Kinda like how watering holes in Africa (save for the crocs) don't fight because it's the only water source for miles? Just spit-balling.

SlimedSerpentI feel like what people don't realize is that mixpacking in tself isnt nearly as bad as grouping with anything outside of your group. If they're gonna add a debuff for mixpacking they should debuff being near anything not in your group, otherwise the mega groups of carnis and herbis would run rampant and it still wouldn't be much different than before. Sure, it's a bit more realistic, but it's awful in terms of game balance.
And even then I don't think they should debuff at all because it could just be exploited to punish people anyways. -

Naturzeasy fix, combat lock timers that exist already but modify it where anyone not in group can’t damage the target while timer active. So whoever lands first hit it locks those combatants in combat. So since herbis can’t group with carnis whoever hits first locks the other out, also prevents outside group members from ganking or third partying in a fight. Also turn off group friendly fire so you can’t damage group members and put a timer on dropping group to kill someone, gives the other person a chance to escape those types of people.

Sushi the SpinoRather than introduce mechanics that punish players who mixpack, the devs could design engaging group content that rewards prosocial behaviour between players who group with same species.
Mixpackers will still be around, but if there were on average more groups and more players actively seeking trustworthy allies of the same species or family to group with, it could tip the balance of power. Those who mixpack might be more inclined to play in homogeneous carnivore/herbivore groups if there are rewards that they'd otherwise miss out on. -

blugrasseasy fix to mix packers ADD THE DAM BLOCK FEATURE already not just chat a total player block once you block a player they are invisible and CANNOT interact with you if a mixpack is toxic in game chat after a 6v1 select their names in player list BLOCK problem solved no need to nerf dinos or remove Resouces or raise waystone cost 2k really STOP removing features and punishing EVERYONE over toxic players BS let us block them PROBLEM SOLVED the constant kos groups and DISCORD warriors day will be over if your add the DAM BLOCK FEATRURE but i can't wait for the waystone and rescore removal because you won't add a simple player block keep feeding the birds as your loyal player base gets harassed daily

VikI agree, prosocial behavior should be rewarded. Making trusthworthy, tight-knit groups more viable and rewarding should be a goal. This will discourage huge murderpacks of different species and encourage realistic herd behavior for herd and pack animals.

MadsThis can be frustrating but if I need a break from doing group fighting I just go to community.
Hear me out though my small group focuses on teaching new players and trying to do fair fights and we actually enjoy fighting with groups just not when they harrass you after downing you when they needed 3-4 extra numbers in global on your skill that’s what makes the game start to get unenjoyable is people talking down for how you play. Instead of getting rid of the officials we have now with matchmaking why not have older officials map servers available and then have a newer option servers for those who want to follow more realism with the matchmaking.
