Increase sound distance for calls
One thing that gets me immersed is hearing all the dinosaur calls from a distance, but the range on hearing the calls is very small. It would be nice if the radius of hearing a call was increased/made louder. Also the sounds of a heavy dinosaur was increased a bit to add that extra tension of hearing something lurking.

Anonymous AvocadoSomething which would add a whole more of atmosphere into the game. Hearing a big carnivore in the distance could give you the chills and make you rethink the direction you are going towards. The game isnt as quiet anymore and you wouldnt have to type in chat to find other dinosaurs of the same species. You could easily broadcast and maybe have a chance to find any friends.

Kentrosaurus BoiI agree with everything said so far, it would also help to make the place more alive and create a more ecosystem-like environment.

friend.codeThis feature is second only to AI and increased actor view distance. The map is beautiful and large, but other players don't load in until you're practically on top of them. Not being able to hear them just makes it even less likely that you'll ever run across another player.

SosoIt’s a lot better since the new update! But still a bit weak in my opinion

It could be very fun and interesting to hear dinosaurs screams from very far, it could be more « atmospheric » and we’d be able to know where we should go to meet ppl or to avoid them, and know in which direction it comes from.
Path of titans can have an incredible atmosphere but still sounds a bit empty and quiet… us, humans, haven’t met dinosaurs so we don’t really know how loud they could be, but a few beasts were enormous and probably had very loud roar.
It also could be nice to increase / edit the sound of walking, even as an adult I don’t have the feeling to control a animal weighting several tons… the earth could « shake » a bit when a big dinosaur is approaching, have some echo, to let us know something huge is somewhere
Adding voice call when we send a message is a great idea, thank you for adding this feature
It’s in good way but still need to be improved imo ! -

RyzanimaI agree with hearing more dinosaur calls, but id like to add my own opinion on the system. i believe hearing calls from a further distance is important but i think the player being able to control their own dinosaurs self volume is a more immersive option. not only that but having a larger difference in volume between the broadcast and low call volumes, perhaps we would be better with a button hold system? ie: on the vocal wheel that is current, selecting a broadcast with a button/ key tap make the call short and low volume but on holding the button/key while the action performs makes the call longer and louder, and have a slider in the audio menu to control the volume of the calls the players own dino makes on their own audio system so that you dont have a bellowing dino in your ear all the time. just some thoughts and my opinion

DragonbornAgree with Soso. Even tho the render distance/call distance was increased, I think the hearing distance should be even bigger. I was never a fan of how muddy the in game sounds are. Even the large dinosaurs have footstep sounds similar to small dinos, it would be nice to be able to diferentiate a dino's size from the sound of their footsteps. I think that the game is still lacking on dinosaur sounds, a broadcast call should be heard from a massive distance, but in the game the broadcast calls are even kind of quiet.
The update was wonderful, it was what the game was really missing, but there's always room for improvement! -

ThreeTwoLemonActually, if anything, herbivores would be mainly the ones that are loud - together with smaller carnivores. Bigger carnis dont roar like you would think, if your opinion is basing on jw or jp. They would growl, make that deep vibrating low sound that terrifies u. Especially if it was carno - or, pycnonemosaurus in pot. Trex too, but not in that big scale. If we want to improve dino calls - lets make more of them low, deep, vibrating. Short sounds coming from deep of the body, barking, more hissing and snarling. Lets not make them only "roar" louder. Lets make them more terrifying. Fearsome. Hair standing while hearing all them. Isn't it how it should be?

DapperWolfheavy dinosaurs already sound plenty heavy, it is nearly impossible to sneak up on anything as a large carnivore because your sneaking foot step sounds are already remarkably loud.
i agree with increasing the sound range of BROADCAST, AGRESSIVE, and SCARED/GIVING UP calls. the friendly and the more neutral sounds should not be heard from very far at all as you still need to be able to communicate with other players a bit without fear of alerting half the server. however if i broadcast i want it heard from afar as that is why i am broadcasting...to make myself known. -

karloalso decreasing sounds for footsteps should be done, hearing juvie from a mile away at the same volume as 5 ton rex is simply something that needs fixing. But not only small dinos, big dinos need it too, you would hear a branch braking and cracking in forest way sooner than you would hear the stomp of a dino walking. Ground absorbs most of the shock and sound so walking trough forest you should be only able to hear breanched cracking and mby some leaves being blown away rather than every single footstep around you in 2 mile radius

KevinYes I agree with the idea here - but I also think the sound/calling mechanic is hamstrung by global chat.
It’s very easy for players to organize, communicate, and coordinate without the need to use the call feature at all - rendering it quite useless.
I like the idea that some Dinos are required to have a pack around them to be effective - and having an audible call for groups could balance the formation of packs by giving attention to the predators as well.
Its a good idea and can be a fun system for communication - I just don’t think PoT has a clear direction on how they want communication to work. -

DaoWould the sound be louder when closer and faint when further?
Otherwise you may here everyone spamming calls all being loud, could get annoying haha.
