Pets in Home Caves
When Home Caves are out, I think it'd be a fantastic addition to be able to pick up AI creatures (e.g. platyhystrix, goniopholis) without harming them and having an optional quest activate to carry them to a waystone within a time limit, depositing them in your home cave! They'd simply wander around the cave and couldn't be killed for food to exploit the shelter of the cave, and would just be some cute eye candy to look at while chilling out at home. Creatures like Deinonychus would only be able to pick up Platyhystrix and animals around that size to have it as an ambient cave pet because Goniopholis would be large enough to be a threat, but animals of mid tier size could wrangle larger AI (but not dinosaur AI) to bring home as a decoration. If this causes framerate issues, there could be limits for one pet of each species; a mechanic to harmlessly handle small AI by the scruff of their neck could also nicely pave

ZayvrI would love to have little home cave pets and wouldn't mind just having them do their idle and the occasional emote if having them roam around cases too much trouble.

MysteryAbsolutely love this idea. I’d be fun to snatch up certain AI critters from Panjura and bring them to your home cave to make them pets. They could even make specific home cave ‘Pet Rooms’ you can purchase.

Axolotl AddictA pet platy would make me waste countless hours of my life for sure and I would not regret it. On a serious note yea they could add a whole dynamic to the caves that would be nice.

LayoxWth ?! maybe but PLEASE many more game changing features are much more needed before that feature.

JochewiDinosaurs that have pets... I'm not convinced... But the possibility of having a food source inside the homecave... That seems more than reasonable to me, for those times when you just walked out but there are two titans at the door waiting to eat you and it turns out you have to go back in but you're starving because you've been testing colors for your skin for two hours

Doyaduku_beNot a good idea. There are so many other things that would add a better atmosphere to the game, having little pets is at the bottom of the list. A more reasonable thing to do would be AI critters that visited the cave or would munch on the foliage. There is a game called ARK which has this feature, and it doesn’t need to be added to every game.

kazmaI love this idea! There are modern tarantulas that keep tiny frogs in their burrows in an arrangement that looks a lot like the way humans have pets, why couldn't a dinosaur do the same thing? Even a static critter that sits in place and cycles through an idle animation would be a really cute addition to the home cave, but a "press E to gently nuzzle tiny animal" sort of interaction would be wonderful.

RhiannonI mean....why not? Our dinos already worship wasps and fix dams. Plus it's a presumibly optional homecave feature. Nobody is forced to have it. I'm not so sure about grabbing the thing and carrying it back alive as that's a whole other button prompt to avoid when trying to hunt and some folks might find it imersion breaking to watch a triceratops carrying a platy like a lion with a cub but the homecave has a store. The critters already have modles. If wandering critters or critter dens that can be dug at to watch the animal run around were added as decorations folks could just pretend it's whatever they want it to be. Pet, food, random creature that decided to wander into a dino's lair. Maybe a tiny you as if it's your hatchling would also be a "pet" option.
