retroactive referrals for gift copies

seriously guys? the new friend referral system is way overdue and most if not all of us have/haven't any friends already playing the game with us. if we've given someone a gift copy in the past, it should absolutely count towards the referrals and apply to both users.

personally, i only have my girlfriend to play with me, and i gifted her a copy well over a year ago. are we expected to make alt accounts to attain these rewards or beg until some rando chooses our link?
